Some options for Manjaro Linux Newbies

• The package manager is really useful, Seafile client can be installed after enabling AUR as source for software. Signal and Telegram can also directly be installed via the package manager.

• install R: sudo pacman -S r

• install Rstudio: pamac build rstudio-desktop-bin

• install Ubuntu Mono font:

  • get from https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Ubuntu+Mono and move to /usr/share/fonts

• Manjaro does not come with gfortran compiler, which is needed for some R packages. Use pamac install gcc-fortran

• Hide everything from a program in KDE, excpept the content:

  • ALT-F3 \(\to\) no borders
  • ALT-Shift-M \(\to\) toggles availability of menu bar
